Episode 10: KALs! What are They and How to Run Them!

In this episode, I go over a question that was submitted to me by one of my SWATCH Studio students: how to run a KAL. I go over the different types of the KALs you can run, things to keep in mind when setting them up, and answer her question for best marketing her patterns using a challenge + KAL.

Episode 9: Help! My Design is Similar to Another!

Here's a scenario that many of us would like to avoid, but all come across: what to do when our design looks much to similar to another design? In this episode, I share my experiences and lessons that I've learned from situations like this, both when my soon-to-be-published design looked to similar to another's, or when another design published looked just like one I did before.

Submitting to knitting magazines and publications can be a terrifying task. It's a great way to push one's knitwear design career forward but is facing all of the rejection worth it?

As someone who has both experienced being the submitter and the editor, I want to share my insights and the behind-the-scenes of what is going through the mind of an editor, as well as how you can change your outlook on the submission process so you can make it a win-win situation every time.

Last month I took an international trip to Melbourne, Australia for Chelsea Fitch's Fiber Boss College LIVE event as a speaker! In my first ever speaking gig, I talked about how I use challenges in my business, the theory of challenges and then dove into the practice of setting one up.

However, I'm not going to talk about my panel in this episode (that's for a future one) but instead the takeaways I got from the other presenters, Chelsea and Claire. Listen to this week's episode for my top 3 main lessons that I learned from Fiber Boss College Live!
