First off, let me say how grateful I am to everyone who helped make the Arius Shawl pattern release launch a successful one! It made it onto the first page of Ravelry's "Hot Right Now" list and stayed there for a couple days. I am very appreciative of every pattern purchase as well - 75% off the sales goes towards paying off my husband's college loans* (bank transfers from Japan to the US is expensive so it's just easier to go through my Paypal) while the rest go towards breaking even on the yarn purchased for that pattern. Being a (not-so-well-known) designer is not a lucrative business. But I hope to change that to make it more slightly in my favour. ;-)
But! To some new yarn in my stash!
I recently had to purchase some extra skeins of Quince & Co's Sparrow yarn for a secret design, and I felt really embarrassed that I had to place an order twice with the LYS for the same yarn so I added a skein of Malabrigo to lessen my fears. I've heard lots of good things about Malabrigo Worsted yarn so I had to get my hands on at least a skein of it. That's right, this is my first impulse yarn purchase in a long time. So I currently have no plans for future designs for this yarn, but I'll be able to think up something!
I heard that Malabrigo is just starting its expansion into Japan and I'm glad they are selling their yarns here! Always nice to have high quality and reputable yarns in relatively easy access. I can't wait to work with it and see what I produce with it.
* Why are college loans so expensive?
