Knitly: New Website and New Projects

Hi everyone! So, some major changes came my way this week. First, I decided to move web hosts and change the layout to something more sleek and snazzy. Second, I've changed the name of my website from "Frenchie Knits" to "Aroha Knits". For those who don't know, Aroha is my middle name and is Maori for "love". Third, I have a logo (notice the heart?)!

I am so very excited to be starting my blog on the web host, as I now have my own domain, better control and analytics.

New Project: Hubby Birthday Present

I headed over to my favorite knitting store in Austin to buy some yarn my husband was eyeing the last time he was in town. This particular brand is called Noro: the World of Nature and is made in Japan (of course). It is made from 40% cotton, 30% silk, 15% wool and 15% Polyamide. I'm using it to knit a slouchy beanie (again) and so far, while the yarn feels rough in my hands, it is sturdy and knits quite nicely (though it does get snagged on the needle from time to time). The color is really interesting and it is self striping, creating a really nice striped effect. The only downside to this yarn is that it breaks EASILY. I don't have to apply much force to rip it to shreds.

Lovely Leaves Shawl

As mentioned in my previous blog post, I'm re-making the purple shawl as it was too small to be called such (it was more like a neck wrap). I just finished using up one full skein of yarn, and I'm taking a small break on before moving onto the second skein.
