WHY YOU SHOULDN'T SUBSCRIBE
With so many subscription boxes currently on the market, you're probably wondering if the Fibre Muse Alchemy Kit is worth signing up for. And honestly, you're probably better off with sticking with your current subscription box. These subscription boxes have been around for a much longer time and have a large consumer base, allowing them to expand their businesses and upscale. What does that mean? More customization and options for you! Not just in the yarn color ways, but the brands they work with. They can offer several patterns per box from different designers because they have the resources and reach.
Because they have a larger customer base, they have better negotiation power for the items they curate for their boxes, resulting in deeper savings for you. Which is the whole point of a subscription box: you want to get great value each month!
The Fibre Muse Alchemy Kits offers value in a different way. While we aim to save you money on each kit, because we have chosen to work with small/indie, artisan, handmade, local businesses in the Fibre industry, the payoff for quality, unique products crafted and created with love and passion, is a higher price point. So I totally get it if the Alchemy Kits will be priced as a luxury item - because they are!
And because we limit subscription sign-ups to only 150 spots, our negotiation powers are not going to be as influential (why would a maker want to give us a deeper wholesale discount when my audience is much smaller compared to the bigger box brands? And I don’t believe in paying just with “exposure"). However, we believe in paying makers what they are worth and collaborating in a way that is fair to everyone involved and contributing to the growth of the Fibre industry, especially the small brands.
But why should you care about the growth of the hand-made industry? It's more expensive and not as convenient and you're iffy on the quality of customer service and the product you’re buying. At least you know machine made is consistent! Hand-made, local or artisan are just buzz words to you and you don't really care that much (and maybe we *should* get real jobs!). And you know what? You're totally in the right to feel that way - because you’re not wrong.
But if you do care deeply about the Fibre industry and want the excitement that comes with hand-made, unique items, a tight-knit community, then the Fibre Muse Alchemy Kits may be right up your alley. Join the VIP launch list to be the first in line when the kits go live.
What Makes the Kits Special
Each Alchemy Kit is themed after one of the four Fibre Muse types (Dreamer, Mystic, Seeker and Giver) and how they work the magic of knitting in their lives: self-expression, self-care, self-discovery and selflessness. Learn how to manifest each type through out the year with carefully curated fibre goods such as eye-catching patterns, quality hand-dyed yarns, and hand-made, artisan or luxury items. Discover brands that you won't find in big-box stores!
We are limiting the number of sign-ups for subscriptions to a set number (sign up to get on in when the kits launch as you'll be the first in line!) - this is to ensure the quality of the items we're curating for each box. We work with small/indie, luxury, artisan, local and hand-made businesses in the fibre industry, who focus on the quality of their output, not the quantity. Yarns are hand-dyed in color ways that will be exclusive to the kits.
The kits are launched quarterly because we want you to be intentional about transforming your yarn and not feel overwhelmed about working on another project or adding to your yarn stash. That's not all though! We will host a yarn swap and KAL with each kit's release, so you can create magic as a community and be enriched, encouraged and empowered by each other.
Each box is themed after one of the four Fibre Muses and how they evoke the magic of knitting. All shipments will contain:
- A free digital subscription to the Fibre Muse Quarterly
- 1-2 skeins of luxury yarn, enough to complete either pattern, dyed in an exclusive color way just for the boxes.
- 2-3 notions from small businesses with an emphasis on local, artisan and hand-made.
OUR MAGIC FORMULA
CELEBRATING THE MAGIC OF HANDMADE
There's something empowering about creating with our own two hands, whether it's for ourselves or someone we care for. It's akin to a sacred ritual, taking a quiet moment for ourselves to transform our yarn into fibre art. We celebrate the magic you create here.
There's something equally enriching about receiving something handmade, spiritual, even. You’re getting the artist’s essence and soul in their work: every perfect imperfection, the way that it’s been packaged up with care, the love and dedication they put into their craft. We celebrate their magic by supporting small businesses.
MANIFESTING THE POWER OF THE FIBRE MUSE
There are four components that make up the Fibre Muse: the Mystic, the Seeker, the Giver, and the Dreamer. These components represent how knitting manifests its magic in our lives; self-care, self-discovery, selflessness and self-expression.
Each Fibre Muse Alchemy Kit focuses on one of these components so you can tap into the magic of these Muses. This ties into the basis philosophical concepts of spiritual Alchemy: transforming ourselves into the best beings we can be. The Fibre Muse Alchemy Kits issues provide both a literal and spiritual transformation: transform your yarn, while transforming yourself.
AN ENGAGING ONLINE COMMUNITY
To go along with each Fibre Muse Alchemy Kit, we'll be hosting a KAL (a knit along) in a special Never-Ending KAL Ravelry group. You'll work up the pattern as a community where you'll feel inspired and motivated to complete your project while fostering relationships with other Fibre Muses around the world.
